Did anyone live in these shitty buildings. God bless you if you did becuase its like a jungle in the courtyard.

They went up at the end of the 70s. They became just as bad as most projects. Gang and drug infested. Very nasty. Its a pretty large complex. 3 large highrise towers, about 25 floors. Surrounded by six, 6-story apartment buildings. I hate these buildings with a passion.

They recently put an iron gate around the complex, stronger then the old chain linked one that had holes every few feet. People simply climb over it. Its about 8 feet tall, but it is simple to climb.

I never lived there but our Precinct team used to play softball on the fields there. stevenson commons has been in the news recently regarding a woman dying while awaiting an ambulance that couldn't get through a locked gate.

It wasn't too bad when we played ball there.

The ambulence couldn't get in becuase the complex has been locked down. However people simply jump over the gate. The security cameras only cover the gate entrances, also locked without a key card.

I know why no one bothered you guys though, who would attack a bunch of cops?? hahah. The field is fine, the problems happen inside the courtyard and occationaly in the basketball courts.

I remember when there was stripped cars in the parking lot, and a dead cat on the path in the baseball field left to decay. No one took care of the area except for the yearly lawn mow of the field.

There used to be, before the cops really started busting down, a group of bloods that took over the corner near the entrance. They are slowly starting to come back but no where as much as a few years ago. The Bloods ran and still do run that place. You can get any drugs you want in that complex.

Sorry about the previous post Big Grin , I lived across the street on Theriot ave. It wasn't too bad, but it was getting there by the time we left in the 80's.

Thieriot? I thought there wasn't anything but a lot there until the 90s. Then they built some rowhouses. Or do you mean those big highrises buildings on Thieriot?

Soundview wasn't that bad in the 70s. The crack epidemic was what killed the neighborhood.
