Lived on 234th St between WP Rd & Carpenter.
Was there from 1963 to 1970 - mostly hung out at Sal's Luncheonette on 234th & WP Rd. Worked at the Wakefield Theater & also the Laconia Theater on WP Rd in the booth selling tickets. After getting married in 1970 moved to 222nd St again betw WP Rd & Carpenter - then Hicksville LI - then Jersey, Va, WVa. Now live in Port St. Lucie, Fl. Haven't seen any nor kept in touch with anyone from the neighborhood and always wondered what happened to all those people. |

I grew up on Bussing a few block away from PS87. I went there for kindergarten in 1970 and then to St. Frances of Rome. A lot of my friends from SFR were from 233rd, 234th and White Plains Rd. and Carpenter/Matilda Avenues. In fact about 25 of us recently reconnected about 2 years ago and now as many of us as can make it meet for dinner once or twice a year. We picked up right where we left off! I'm still in the Bronx - Morris Park. Reminds me of the old neighborhood. Still pretty nice here. My husband grew up across the street and his mom grew up in the house we now own. Great family neighborhood. My son loves it!
