There used to be a nice Italian restaurant on Soundview Avenue named Sylvano's I think, around 350 Soundview Avenue. A very nice father and daughter used to run it.

Anyone else remember?

I moved to Clason Point when I was 7 yrs old and lived there from 1958 to 1965. My hang outs were Genes candy store (corner of Beach and Randall I think), and Rubys candy store. And of course the Beach Theater, which is still there and is now being used as a warehouse. Went there every Saturday. Anyone remember it was 30 cents to get in and we saw four movies? Went in around lunch time and came out after dark. I lived at 527 St. Lawrence avenue. Went back there about 5 years ago. It's hard to recognize now. I went to Holy Cross, and if you google them they have a website now.

Hi Peter, I remember the Beach movie house, and my uncle owned St.Lawrence Beef Market. My Mother went to Holy Cross School, but all of this happened a very long time ago. Clason Point will always remain in my memory as a beautiful place filled with beautiful people, streets with entire families living on it, all cousins playing ball in the street, and riding our trikes with our little dogs running after us. What a wonderful time and place it was.

I remember going to the Beach Theatre to see Planet Of The Apes. The year, I guess, was 1969? I remember it was a pretty early movie.

Our most precious right . FREEDOM OF SPEECH- the one that leads directly to freedom of religion and our freedom of the press, the supposed watchdogs of our Republic — is being brutally and viciously assaulted.

The Film

Incidentally I've just been published as a "filmmaker" among other things in an important trade mag which is being distributed to 4,000 producers as we speak.

Let me know what you think of "the Film." Many thanks!

I guess this is mainly to Fred Buono since he grew up on Theriot Ave. I was just wondering if you happened to know my father, Richie Birnie, everybody just called him Birnie as far as I know. I was born in 54 and we lived in the last house on the left on Theriot before the water. My uncle "Scotchy" lived next to us and had a pidgeon coop. Lived there till I was 4 I believe and then moved over to Crotona Ave. Anyway, I'm just curious, especially since my father passed a couple of years ago, living in Queens.
