I lived at 1815 Story Avenue and went to P.S. 100 from 1965 to 1969. Didn't your family live in 1817 Story Avenue? Have you visited the site www.soundviewstandup.com? There are so many folks from back in the day on there. Come on over.

I remember the Behar's if you're talking about the family that lived on the 2nd floor of 1815 Story Avenue. The sister's name was Barbara Jean and until this day the song "These Eyes" reminds me of that family because I heard it playing one day while I was under her window.

Well I won't identify myself but let it suffice to say that I remember Edgar Marcano quite well. I remember Ray, Evelyn and DeeDee also. I always tell my friends that the hottest chick I have ever seen in my life was DeeDee at 14. :-)

I went to PS 100, IS 131, and ultimately DeWitt Clinton HS.

I remember Robert Pim also.

I believe Edgar's building had the King family in it. As well as Charlie Auffant.

Glad to hear Edgar seems to be doing well.

Hey Edgar and Stephen -

This is Diane Feig. I lived in 1815 from 1960 to 1973. I married Charlie Auffant. Edgar I used to hang out with your brother Ray and your sisters Evelyn and Dee Dee. I think you went out with my sister Nancy when you were 7 or 8. I went to P.S. 100, then to Junior High School 125. Charlie and I are still married with 3 children and two grandchildren. Edgar it's so nice to see you made it. How are your sisters and Ray. My sister Pat used to hang out with your older sister. Sorry to hear about Junior (or that's what I knew him as). Stephen, are you the Dunn's from the first floor or the seventh floor. You must be younger than me because I can't remeber your face but by the people you remember, I can tell you are a little younger. I remember buying a radio off of Robert Pimn.

Diane, did you used to live on the 3rd floor of 1815 Story Avenue? We lived in 3C. Are you Doug's sister? I definitely remember the Feig family and think you lived in the apt straight down the hallway to the left of ours. Was that your family??

Diane, one more thing. A website was created for old tenants who used to live in James Monroe Houses, Soundview, Rosedale, Carroll Gardens, Leland, etc.

The website is www.soundviewstandup.com. You may find some old P.S. 100 classmates there who you haven't heard from in years. Hope to see you there.

Hello Diane,
Your name sounds very familier to me and I think you may have hung with my sisters and others around our building.
Do you remember my sisters Deborah & Loretta? Also, the others in our building at 875 Taylor Ave were Barbara & Johnny Moore-Martin, Ruthie Pimm, Roberts sister, Suzie Zymanski, the Shines, Durkins, etc. Congrats on your marrige, kids and grandchildren. My wife and I have 3 adult kids now too, 1 grandchild so far. We live in California, but my memories keep taking me back to the Projects in The Bronx. Thanks for sharing. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I see the name "Feig" mentioned. I went to JHS 123 and maybe Monroe with a Harmon Feig. Is he a relation? He may be 61-62 years old today. He played drums in the Band.

I lived on Evergreen and Westchester and went to 93, 123 and Monroe, graduating in 1964.

Yes,Doug was my brother. He passed away more than ten years ago. I rember Robert Pimn, Johnny Nimphis, Matty Loscalso. Was there a Patty Zymanski? I know I hung out with one of the Zymanskis. You know who in the projects there was so many people to pick and choose who to hang out with. One day your hanging out at one building and the next day your at another building. Like Edgar said, you would go out with someone for two hours and then call it quits (ha, ha).

Diane are you related to Harmon Feig?

I went either to 123 or Monroe with him, between 1957 and 1964 (123 and Monroe combined haha).

We were in the band or orchestra and he played the drums, if I remember correctly.

I can still see his face.

No I was not related to Harmon Feig. My sister Pat went to 123 but I'm not sure of the years. She is in her late 50's.

Hello Diane,
I was on 3rd floor at 875 Taylor Ave. Robert, Ruthie Pimm lived on same floor as my family. I currently live in Morgan Hill, California with my family. Been here since 1970, but go back to see my sister Deborah;s family in Queens about every 2-3 years. Sure miss all my friends and memories growing up at James Monroe. Time is moving to fast and we are all losing some of our friends and family along the way. Best Regards, Steve

I grew up on Evergreen, off of Westchester. Pardon my ignorance, but were the Monroe Projects the buildings on Story, near the White Castle and/or the library (the small one a block or so off of Westchester, a few blocks from the Soundview Baseball Fields and White Castle)?

I sorta remember the library was very small and surrounded by empty lots or a large field.

Went to 93, 123 and Monroe, 51-64.
