I like the Glen Miller music, but unless you have the records you would have a problem trying to hear his music today.

I periodically go to You tube to watch and listen to Benny Goodman's band playing Sing Sing Sing. It includes Gene Krupa nd Harry James in the band.

Where are the saxophones, trumpets, clarinets and trombones in today's music. The only time you see them is on a PBS special where the band is almost entirely of older people.

Glen Miller went to the University of Colorado here in Boulder. At he University is a Glen Miller Ballrom. Don't expect to see big bands there. It is mostly a large meeting room for visiting speakers.

You cant expect kids of today to go for the music of yesterday. We did not do it they will not. Remember is school they tryed to push clasical music down our throths it did not work.
I wish they would put a spell check on this

I listen to a great station on L I Sanction Radio and most of the day they play Big Band and standards. Also have a station on cable that plays big band. Love it.

My son-in-law is a bass player and has his own band. JAZZ that's what's here to stay! He played the Bluenote in Manhattan and has had some other great Gigs in Cuba, Spain and right here in N Y with Regina Carter.

I think the Beatles will make a reunion tour before big bands make a come back.

It's all rap music today.

I like some big band stuff, I liked Peggy Lee when she sang with Glen Miller(?). Yea, I kinda like the singers that sang with the big bands, Billie Holliday, Helen Humes, Lee, That's all I can think of right now.

Didn't they make another more recent Glenn Miller movie staring Steve Allen, or am I wrong?

I was wrong, I think it was the Benny Goodman story that Steve Allen was in and Peggy Lee sang for Benny Goodman,,, sheesh, I hope I'm right.

Yea, I have heard of the Andrew sisters. Sorry, didn't care to much for them. I kinda like singers with a blues touch to their music.

Yeah right a Beatle's reunion.I don't think so John is dead, George is dead, Ringo should be and Paul has his own problems.

That was my point.

John and George have a better chance at making a come back with the Beatles than big bands do at making a come back.

Big bands are deader than the Beatles.

Don't take posts so literally, sometimes things are said in humor.

Now that is really super! I was involuntarily relieved of all my "Old Music" during a military transfer many years ago....my turntable also mysteriously disappeared. Some things you just cannot be "reimbursed" for!

Luis, what a great tune "The Good the bad and the Ugly" theme by Hugo Montenegro. I had the sound track albumn from the movie which also had the song "For a few Dollars More" theme. I loved those two songs, I still got the songs but the record is gone to charity.

Ivonne music is my pation. the song 'The good the bad and the ugly" by Hugo Montenegro is great. But I also have it by the person that did the movie score 'Ennio Morricone'He also did the score for what I consider the best western ever 'Once Upon a Time in the West' With Henry Fonda, JaysonRobards,
Claudia Cardinale and Mr. Charles Bronson on his best. And it was directed by 'Sergio Leone' If you ever come across this movie you have to see it just to listen to the sound track itself is worth you while. Especially the song at the end.
This song is so great that I saw a special by Andrei Rieu I can't remember his name right now. the guy with the violin and he did a tribute to Ennio Morricone and did the song from the movie it was spectacular.

I'll have a look around for Morricone,s music.

I also love Andre Rieu, he has a fun way with his music. And the sound is lovely.

I love almost all music having had a strong musical education. For my senior prom, back in the dark ages, we Woody Herman and His Threrd Herd. I've got a number of Benny Goodman, Harry James, the Dorsey Brothers & Glenn Miller LP's.

By the way, there is a device that will let you hook your turntable to your computer so that you can download your LP's and burn them to a disc.

I have an old Gemini DJ mixer with two turntables, and I just recently bought software from Roxio that lets me take music from records to the computer. The software even lets me take the scratches and crackling noises out of some of my older beat up records.
