I FIRST REMEMBER THE DOOWOP SOUNDS BUT I REALLY FAVORED THE MOTOWN SOUND. I REMEMBER WHEN THE BEATLES INVADED AND HATED THEIR MUSIC. NO RHYTHM IS WHAT I USED TO SAY. WELL I HAVE COME TO LIKE THE BEATLES AND THEIR SONGS LATE IN LIFE, BUT I STILL FAVOR THE MOTOWN SOUND.I AM LIKE MURPHY BROWN, WHEN EVER I WANT TO DO EXTENSIVE HOUSE CLEANING I PLAY MY MOTOWN SONGS. WHEN I AM FEELING LIKE I MISS MY YOUTH I PLAY MY 50'S STUFF.LOL
FUNNY HOW WHEN YOU GET OLDER YOU START TO APPRECIATE THINGS MORE. LIKE I LOVE OPERA AND BALLROOM DANCING.I WOULD NEVER HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS AS A KID. Smiler

MY FAVORITE WILL ALWAYS BE THE DOO WOPS. WHEN I WAS ABOUT 15, I HAD A DOO WOP GROUP. I WAS THE LEAD SINGER, WITH 3 GUYS BACKING ME UP. WE CALLED OURSELVES "THREE GUYS AND A GIRL". WE USED TO STAND ON THE STREET CORNER WHERE I LIVED AND SING. KIDS CAME FROM BLOCKS AWAY TO HEAR US. OCCASIONALLY, WE WOULD SING AT A CHURCH OR SYNAGOGUE DANCE (WITHOUT BENEFIT OF PAYMENT)....JUST FOR FUN. OH MY GOD....THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.....HOW I MISS THEM!!!!!

ANGELS
Angels are the guardians of hope and wonder, the keepers of magic and dreams. Wherever there is love, an angel is flying by. Your guardian angel knows you inside and out, and loves you just the way you are. Angels keep it simple and always travel light. Remember to leave space in your relationships so the angels have room to play. Your guardian angel helps you find a place when you feel there is no place to go.

Like Norie, for me it was Motown. I also disliked the Beatles when they first hit. I would change the station whenever a Beatles song came on.
Now, I like most music, classical, big band, opera, dixieland, but I don't and will never like rap (the c is silent).

I'm a big fan of OUR music )1954 'til '64). I live on Florida's Treasure Coast & just can't get OUR music here. I invested in a satellite radio (SIRIUS) so I can get a station that broadcasts music from 50's in my truck. They also have a station that plays only Elvis & another station of 60's music. If I'm not listening to the 50's station I tune in to Radio Margaritaville - nothing like a little Jimmy Buffett. Because I'm a subscriber I also get SIRIUS on the Net.

Just listened to Jerry Lee Lewis' "A whole lota Shakin'" & Danny & the Juniors "Rockin' Roll is Here To Stay". One of the DJ's is Norman Knight.

I here from my friends in NY that CBS FM (101.1) no longer broadcasting OUR music. What a shame!

I like almost all music except heavy metal & (c)rap. Our local NPR station has great classical.

Hey "The Duke of Earl" (Gene Chandler) just came on.

Time to head to the beach. Bye!

Sorry, but Doo-W-O-P was before my time. When I first became interested in music, it was bands like Led Zep and the Who that I would listen to. Then later, punk music.

I would probably have been more interested in bands like Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and Eddie Cochran, than doo W-O-P.

Don't get me wrong, doo W-O-P is OK, if you like it.

I remember Alan Freed and his "moondog" sounds on the radio back around 1953-1954. Nothing can come close to those great sounds. I never missed a night listening to him....this new sound in music became my first love.

I went to all of his shows at the Brooklyn Paramont. They were great. I used to go to some of the oldies shows they had around our area

I also liked the 50' & 60's sound. I loved Elvis. I had plenty of "45"s" records. The
doo *** sound was good to dance to at parties.
I don't have any of those records anymore. Too bad.
