Last night I had the pleasure to see both these groups perform, it was as if time had stood still, from "Twinkle, twinkle little star" to "Heart and Soul, I fell in love with you" I was just a young fellow back in the Bronx, listening to the radio on a Saturday night with my arms around my Angel.

The Elegants were formed in 1958 on Staten Island, NY. There song "Little Star" climbed the charts to #1. In 1970 Vito Picone who was an original member of the Elegants returned to the group replacing Frank Rardogano as lead singer, he toured with Freddie Redmond, Nino Amato and Bruce Copp. Freddie Redmond died in 2006 and was replaced with original member Jimmy Mochella.

The Cleftones formed at Jamaica HS, Queens, NY originally called The Silvertones, Herb Cox, Berman Patterson and Warren Corbin then another group blened in with Charles James and Buzzy McClain, their first record was "You Baby You" in 1955, in 1956 "Little Girl of Mine" took off and never looked back, other hits were "Heart and Soul", "For Sentinmental Reasons" "Lover Come Back to Me" in 1963 their last song was "He's Forgotten You" and listers really forgot the song and the end of the Cleftones they became another memory of the great era of R&B vocal groups.
In 1970 The Cleftones reformed for a revival show in NYC and are still performing today after 45 yrs since the group first formed in HS.

As I said time stood still as I listened to these two wonderful groups perform, long live rock n roll, may these oldies cotinue to live in our hearts.

Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop.......
