The drama continues, interesting though, since I knew of the person (Angel as you call her) interesting all the fuss over one girl who lived in the Bronx, made a success of her life only to have people gossiping all about her life. Although I only knew her in her teen years she was a really good person, would go out of her way to help people and her one attribute was that she had a killer voice, deep, soulful, much like Timi Yuro who sang "Hurt" who is now deceased also. She should be remembered for all the good she did, continued to do throughout her life and forget about the minor crap that she got involved with, I'm not saying that these other people didn't love her or hurt her, but its in the past, done, over and only they can live with the consequences.

Donna, I agree with most of what you said, except that I do not gossip, I only talk about things that are fact and every word is factual.
In those last weeks of her life, she made peace with everyone including me and she waited and waited for ONE person to contact her, she said he would, he always knew when she was in trouble. Yes, she did do alot of good, she gave free concerts if anyone was in trouble, she helps others who wanted to get into he music business, she gave away money anonymously she didn't like people making a fuss. Yes, we all live with the consequences, I know that when the time comes I can leave this earth with a clear concience, I wonder how many others can say the same. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop....... |

Jose, I know your heart is wounded, someday it will heal I'm sure and just think your Angel is up there waiting to greet you someday. I'm sure that with all her good deeds that she has earned her ANGEL wings.

I've been reading this Bronx tragedy for awhile and I have to comment: first, Kathy was a great person, she would do anything for a friend. She loved what she was doing, she loved to get up and sing, bring a smile to someone's face, that was just her way. Her early life was not a easy one, yet she never complained or said a word against what anyone ever did to her. She married a loving man many years her senior and he loved and protected her till his dying day.
Kathy loved her NJ guy with all her heart, she talked about him endlessly, yet we knew it was going to end sooner or later (he would have never left his wife of many years). She was a friend to many and every year we gather to pay tribute to this wonderful Bronx girl, who had a heart as big as NYC, who loved, cried and laughed with all of us........her friends. Kathy was my friend for over 45 yrs. I loved her like my own family and think of her everyday. |

What is the tragedy? The woman passed away, she had a full life, what tragedy? A child dying is a tragedy. Nice person or not, she slept with another woman's husband, and if the husband chooses not to acknowledge her after said affair, its his business. She should have known better. Hard life? What hard life, cause her boyfriend knocked someone else up? He didn't die in the war, she wasn't left pregnant. You people make this woman out to be a saint. Seems to me she was all too human, flaws and all.

Amazed, you have not a clue as to what Paradise53 is talking about. Who said she slept with NJ loverboy? Pretty hard since they lived 1,200 miles away from each other. As I said before HE contacted her, HE sent her e-mails everyday. He started the whole thing filling her head with lies he was a controlling individual who wanted her undivided attention. What went on between her and I was a different story. I know what Paradise53 is talking about when he/she says about her earlier life. Yes, she was human, she was a good wife, mother, grandmother and entertainer. Yes, to me she was a saint. How can you judge her, not knowing the woman, meeting her or talking to her?

Jose, your not going to convince anyone of anything, number one they didn't know her, they don't know you, they don't know any of the other charaters involved in all this, so don't knock yourself out. I'm now retired (buyout/place closed) so now I have time to read internet boards and enjoy life. Back in the Bronx, those years growing up were fun, we had great times and along the way heartaches, married the wrong people, raised kids, divorced lost jobs, remarried, lost spouses and in the end we'er all still Bronx kids at heart. Stay well, Jose, see ya back in the Bronx, 2008.

Paradise did you know Kathy? I went to high school with her, we lived in different neighborhoods, but I'd run into her every once and awhile. Lost track of her for the longest time, was at a mini reunion a couple of weeks ago with some people from SSS and alot of them remembered her and said she kept in touch with alot of people from SSS through the years. She tried to get a reunion going back in 2001, but couldn't get it off the ground, with people scattered near and far. Ha, I can still see her on stage at the talent contest, she was maybe 15 at the time, blew them away with that voice of hers. The best of times.

Yes, I knew her, we met when I was in high school and she was still in elementary school, although I was older, she was the one that kept everyone in line, I knew her boyfriend Johnny Gorman, what she saw in him I'll never know, he wasn't my type and I thought she could have had anyone of the guys we hung around with. John Lewis had a thing for her, as did Tommy Gallardo
and a couple of other guys, but her and Johnny were always together. One thing I can say with all honesty is she always had my back, she was always there for me and didn't give a hoot who she had to go up against to keep me out of harms way. I miss her terribly, she was the one person I could call on day or night and she'd be right there for me, I loved her more than my own sister, and yes, she could sing, she sang at my birthday party once and the elderly jewish neighbors came from all the apts to listen to her sing. Those were good days back then. Right Jose? |

I'm still trying to figure out who you are Paradise53????? If you knew JG then I think I know who you are, but PM me with a little more information. The holidays are coming and as the first snowflakes fall, I sit by the window watching the white snow fall to the ground and think back to those early days, we were so young back then, I was sooo crazy over her, when we walked down the street I wasn't a poor Latino from humble beginnings, I was someone when I was with her. I was proud of my little Angel, together we were "the" couple of 183rd St. I hold on tightly to those memories, there all I have left.

Thank you Paradise53 for explaining who you were I had a feeling it was you, yes, the years have gone by quickly, too quickly. I'm very happy that there are sooo many people that continue to remember my Angel, its a tribute to a lovely Bronx girl that brought smiles and entertained so many people over the years. Her memory will never die, through friends like yourself and of course, me and others who loved her she will remain with us for always. Till 2008.................Jose

Donna, if your around give me a PM I got a call from a girl that you might or might not know from SSS, she was friends with my Angel all her life, somehow she tracked me down, she called several other people to get my number. We had a great time talking, walking down memory lane so to speak, her name is Patricia, living in Va.
just PM me and I'll give you the particulars of what wanted and had to say. It lifted my spirits soooo much to talk with someone who was soo close to my beloved Angel. ********************************************** Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop....... |

Its over 40 yrs since we graduated, you mean there's someone out there that still remembers your Angel/Kathy? Anyway, there's a PM to you coming.

Donna, thank you for the PM, I have sent you back my reply, every year my Angels singing group The Innocents puts on a Holiday Show that is absolutely wonderful, I leave tomorrow with my two sons to see both the Friday night show and Saturday show, I will be able to see her whole family as this has turned into a family tradition in honor of their mom. Everyone comes in from far and wide for this two night event, her son James has done a fabulous job and puts in many hours to make this show special with snow and sleighs/dancers and of course it couldn't be done without the rest of the group, Tommy/Lisa/Roe/Patty the newest memeber. I wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas. G*d bless you all. Jose

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2008 to you also, Suzie, well, it was great to be able to attend the holiday show that the Innocents preformed.
I especially got the biggest kick and tears in my eyes, as they dropped a screen and showed my Angel singing "All I Want For Christimas" and then my heart fell, as her daughter dressed in the exact same gown, walked onto the stage with her group The Young Innocents, singing right along with her mom, and Michael (Jesse boyfriend) also on the stage singing to Jesse. it was a sight that I will never forget, just like Nat King Cole and his daughter singing together Unforgetable. With fake snow falling and jiggle bells it was a fantastic show, got to see the whole family together, plus my old friend Tommy and Roe who I've known forever, met Patty (newest member) and of course, Lisa Hudson (she gave me her phonenumber, wink wink) The granddaughters all 4 wore matching dresses ages from 13 to 7 were a delight and all wanted to talk to me at once, luckily, my oldest son Jose, Jr. headed them off and took them off to a corner and played some games with them. The older granddaughter wanted to hear the story of how we met, the younger girls don't understand the whole story so we try to distract them. This was one of the better Christmases I've had to be able to share it with those that my Angel loved, they are an extension of my own family. I had to take a minute to compose myself as my mind would wander to watching the shows that my Angel would perform at so long ago she was so lucky to have such a fine family and I know that her presence was felt that night. I know that I feel something every time I watch there show. Maybe someday I'll explain. I hope that everyone had a great Christmas and a even better New Year. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop....... |

Jose, it sounds like you had a terrific time, and I'm sure that with her family accepting you it made for a very special evening. I know that the holidays are sometimes rough for those who have lost a loved one and being surrounded by her family brought some sunshine into your life, along with your sons. Although she's gone she will be in your heart forever. Glad you had a great time.
