Back in the 1970's I was moonlighting doing wedding photography. Johnny Maestro had a wedding band back then - it was before the oldies became big again. I also saw him doing some proms that I shot back then.

I going to the Beach Boys concert at the King Center in Melboune Florida on March 11th. We're taking my 7 year old granddaughter. She's already picked out the Hawaiian shirt she'll be wearing. She knows all of there tunes as well as those of Jimmy Buffett

I saw Johnny at a concert a few years back and just thinking about it brings back a smile. He can still hit the notes just right.I remember seeing him way back ,must have been before the Brooklyn bridge took off. He was playing in a club at 241st and white plains road. The place was at the end of the 2 train. Upstairs on the corner . Funny I can remember this ,but can't remember last nights dinner.LOL

Dennis Johnny maestro before being with the Brooklyn bridge was with one of the most famous of the teen groups 'The Crest' That's where also one of the most played Rock & Roll song ever came out.
'Sixteen Candles' he also did 'The angels listen in' and many cover songs of the early sixties. They were one of the first racially integrated groups of R&R.He is considered one of the beast lead singers of all time..

WAY BACK WHEN JOHNNY WAS WITH THE CRESTS,
LUTHER VANDROSS SISTER WAS IN THE GROUP.
SHE SANG WITH THEM ON AND OFF.

JOHNNY MAESTRO IS ONE OF THE BEST LEAD SINGERS
AND HAS BEEN SINCE HE FIRST STARTED WITH THE CRESTS.

I understand that his former group The Crests are also back on the doo*** circuit, TJ Carter one of the original Crests is touring with a group.
16 Candles is one of the all time favorites of rock and roll during the late 50's and shouldn't be called doo***, I believe that when surveys are done "In the Still of the Night" is still the #1 song of that era.
Johnny Maestro is a very gracious person, always ready to sign an autograph, pose for pictures.....a real gentlemen.

In the Still of the Night is usually rated #1 and is a good song. It's not in my top 10 of Doo *** songs.
